Roger Waters to reunite with Pink Floyd for Live8

In amazing news for Pink Floyd fans, Bob Geldof has pulled off a real coup by convincing the original line-up of Pink Floyd to reunite for the first time since The Wall (Rick Wright did not play on The Final Cut). The web had been buzzing with rumours of a reunion for a while now, since Mason and Waters have become buddies again. I think the problem may well have been getting Gilmour and Waters together.

"Like most people I want to do everything I can to persuade the G8 leaders to make huge commitments to the relief of poverty and increased aid to the third world," said Gilmour. "Any squabbles Roger and the band have had in the past are so petty in this context, and if reforming for this concert will help focus attention then it's got to be worthwhile."

To Pink Floyd fans, these are details. What really matters is that the band is getting back together after almost 25 years. That should be incentive enough to sit in front of the telly at some unearthly hour on July 2nd. For the Londoners among you, you have until midnight today to try and score tickets for the Hyde Park show.

UPDATE: (thanks, Joy Pasquarelli) The PF official site has now confirmed the news as well.
