On anonymous posts
I noticed a set of comments left by a certain OUP in response to my post on Musharraf. Excellent set of comments, except that I wish OUP would identify himself or leave an e-mail address should anyone want to discuss this further. Yes, I know there's nothing wrong with anonymous posts, but let me try and explain why I think it defeats the purpose of this blog. There were two key purposes I envisaged for this blog -- one, as a knowledge management and tracking tool for me. But more importantly, I have been convinced about the networking possibilities implicit in blogging from the time the RISC team got together partly due to Rajesh's blog. You never know what could emerge from random discussions on these blogs. I certainly didnt think a start-up would result from my reading Emergic. This networking process would work better, methinks, if people identified themselves and got a conversation going. If you have something long-ish to say, I would certainly encourage guest posts.
OUP, care to identify yourself? :)
