Spread the word: Reporting Fellowships

June 26th will mark 6 months since the devastating Indian ocean tsunami. The South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) has set up a $10,000 SAJA reporting fellowship for anyone wanting to report on the aftermath of the Tsunami 6 months down the line. I think this is a tremendous opportunity for young, upcoming reporters to make a mark. The deadline for submitting proposals is Saturday, June 25, 2005. To be eligible, applicants must:

* Have at least five years of journalism experience.
* Use English as the language medium.
* Be able to publish or broadcast the finished work in the United States.
* Be willing to work with an editor, chosen by SAJA, who will oversee the successful completion of the project.
* Be available to discuss the project at SAJA events, including but not limited to the annual SAJA convention and/or panel discussions.

You can get more details on the fellowship here. The entire application process can be done online, so June 25th is a very doable deadline. Please spread the word far and wide, especially among young journalists in India.
